San Jose Sharks coach Todd McLellan said he is not ruling out a return to the game after missing the first three weeks with a broken hand.
McLellans status is up in the air after he missed the Sharks’ 6-3 victory over the Boston Bruins on Saturday.
The Sharks have three games remaining.
The last game was the team’s first-ever home loss to the New York Islanders, but it came in the season opener.
“I’ve never missed a game like that before,” McLellany said.
“That was the first time I had a broken finger and a dislocated shoulder and I didn’t play a game.”
McLellán said he’s confident the injury will not be long-term.
“We have a good group of guys that have been in the NHL for a long time and know how to handle it,” he said.
He did not elaborate.
The San Jose organization is hoping McLellana will be back sooner than later.
“Hopefully in a couple of weeks he can get his arm back and he’ll be ready to go,” McLellenan said.
